WRITING RESIDENCY
Support the creation of short format and the emergence of a new generation of authors
With the support of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Regional Council and the City of Marseille, the Marseille Web Fest will launch a call for projects in July 2022 as part of the eighth edition of its Writing Residency (October 17 to 21, 2022 in Marseille).
In order to support the creation short format, web-series & web-creation, this writing residency aims to allow the emergence of a new generation of creators/authors by offering residential writing workshops adapted to these new contents.
In parallel to the workshops proposed by Anne Santa Maria, interventions of professionals will be planned.
At the end of the writing residency, the authors will pitch their project in front of a jury of professionals. The Best Pitch Prize will be awarded to one of them in addition to a €3000 writing grant from the CNC (for French authors only).
Authors will also receive a Final Draft license, partner of the Marseille Web Fest. Final Draft is a text editor for writing and formatting screenplays.

After a career as program advisor, producer, Head of Drama and branch office manager, within major players in the sector such as TF1, FremantleMedia, Gaumont, Newen, Anne Santa Maria is now a consultant in content strategies for independent producers, Media groups and Audiovisual Markets (Reed Midem, Warner Tv France, Conecta Fiction, etc.).
International contributor for 5 years on original digital creations in various festivals (Rio, Seoul, London, Moscow, Sicily, Canada, Italy, Spain, Germany, etc.) as conference speaker, jury and panelist, she presented the Master Class “The Game of Pitch” at the opening of the “In Development” of MIPTV – CanneSéries 2019.
As a media trainer, she operates in different organisations: MIPTV Creative Talent Pitch 2017-2020 (32 projects – 24 different nationalities), CEEA, 4 J training “Pitcher a fiction project”, Media Faculty “Establish and Manage a budget of fiction production ”, Sorbonne – ASFORED, Master 2, INA-UCA,“ Formation Showrunner ”, Alsace cultural agency “Production of web series” / “Pitch your own project within the context of International Festivals ”, ESRA, CEFPF, Web Fest Berlin-Deutsche Telekom, Cristal Festival (Courchevel), etc.

call for projects
At the end of the call for projects, the selection of the residents is made by a jury composed of professionals of new media and new writing. This selection is based on the candidate’s CV, on the interest of the project being written and on their motivation.
The writing residency welcomes authors, without age limit, European or from the Mediterranean basin for a total of 5 days (Monday to Friday included). The authors will be offered personalized workshops and a collective program of meetings with professionals of new media and new writing.

Who can answer?
Any person residing in France without age limit. Special attention will be given to applications from authors living in the South Provence (Région Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur).
IMPORTANT: Some speakers will be in English. Fluency in English is strongly recommended -
What are the prerequisites?
Have a project in advanced development (unit, film, series, animation series) or seeking co-financing.

What kind of care?
For selected participants*, catering for lunches will be take in charge. Transport and accommodation could be covered after agreement between the author and the association.

Each application must include the following documents:
- 1 page presentation of the project
- CV of the author
- A declaration on honour attesting that the work presented is not subject to any "exclusive contract" with a production company
- Authorization when the subject is derived from a pre-existing work.
